Functional Ware & The Occasional Blue Goat

 

My work explores an ever broadening range of functional wares and acrylic painting. In college I worked primarily as a painter. I left my first teaching job to take a public high school position primarily teaching ceramics. That move heavily influenced my own art making. I suddenly discovered a love a clay- the meditative qualities of wheel throwing and the practical nature of functional ware. My most current work has evolved from traditional functional ware including bowls and mugs towards earrings.  I love the idea of people being able to wear small sculptures whenever they want, carrying art with them wherever they go.
